Your use of Managed Internet Service is subject to Department of Education and Training policies including the Use of ICT Facilities and Devices Guidelines. When you register for, sign in and use Managed Internet Service, your personal information and other information in your emails and communications will be transferred to, processed by and stored on DET and Microsoft equipment.
DET will collect and handle personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 and Departmental policies. It may collect and use your personal information and other information in your emails and communications as required to provide the Managed Internet Service; for security, technical and troubleshooting purposes; and for monitoring compliance with Departmental policies. Information will be treated as a public record and will be dealt with as required by the Public Records Act 2002 and the Right to Information Act 2009.
Microsoft has agreed to keep information transferred to, processed by or stored on its equipment secure; to use the information only to provide the Managed Internet Service and for technical and troubleshooting purposes; to comply with the Information Privacy Principles to the extent that they apply to Microsoft; and to ensure any subcontractors to whom it provides information do the same. Information may be transferred to Microsoft facilities overseas, where it will be held in secure servers subject to privacy laws and schemes no less restrictive than the Information Privacy Principles.
